Lenovo y510p ssd question

I have two question :

1. I bought a caddy for lenovo y510, but my Sandisk Ultra 2 ssd is only reconize as sata 2. Is there a sata3 or sata2 support? Is there any problem with caddy?

2. Also I was wondering if I can install a M.2 SSD. My laptop is still in warranty, I didn't open it. If yes, is worthy for daily use to sell my Sandisk ssd for a M2 ssd?

Re: Lenovo y510p ssd question

Hi mirciusx ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the hardware manual under specifications :

Bus architecture (Page 27):  SATA Gen1   SATA Gen3  (you can check using hwinfo for specific details).

As you use the ports interface would use it as SATA supported .

You do have option to use M.2 SSD instead on a separate location intended for your system .

Solid-state drive • 256GB SSD  (page 28)
