Lenovo y580 hdd issue

2016-01-01, 14:52 PM

Hi there

Well it happend my hdd is dying got some phisical problems (as i travel quite often )so i need to look for a replacement and the thing is that i would like to put some vitality in this machine as well so curent hdd is :

 Seagate ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB

And i would like to change it for something faster (SSD + HDD) or (SSHD) arround 1TB

So first option ssd + hd i have found some of those that may fit but im not quite sure how it will work so for ssd i found this:

http://www.kingstonmemorycards.co.uk/kingston-240gb-ssdnow-v300-7mm-sata-3-iii-hard-disk-drive-hdd-bundlesv300s3b7a-240g

or

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A1ZTZNM/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=1B9K6STSVPKQ3KQDYFQ5&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=577048407&pf_rd_i=desktop

there is a difference in model and i saw a few complains about it so i dont know how would it work and if it would put my performance a bit up

for an HDD i assume any 2.5 inch sata interface hdd will do ( question is 5400 or 7200? [or maybe someone have any ready solution for a hdd provided link to the product in UK would be great:robotwink:])

the other option is that SSHD

found something like that and to be honest im not sure if that would work at all with my good old y580.

Well any information, advices would be very welcome thanks

Your currenty hard drive is a notebook hard drive using the Sata interface, so the options you linked should all work since it is all using the SATA interface. Now it's just up to you to prioritize speed vs. capacity. If you're looking for speed, go with an SSD, if you're looking for more space or just to save money, go with a SSHD.
