Lenovo y700p Fans Turn to Max Way too often

It seems like every time the cpu goes past 50c, the cpu turns on to full blast for 5 seconds than cools down again. Theres no reason for that, the fans should stay on low every time. This is just when having multiple tabs open in chrome, its very distracting. It just goes from 0 to 100. No ramping up the fan speed. Is there any remedy for this? Changing the thermal paste? This is a brand new machine.

Hi Mazula!

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Your fan is doing it's job to cool down your system once it heats up. If you're not comfortable with it, try updating BIOS here, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/LEGION-SERIES/LEGION-Y7000P/downloa...

Thanks for the reply
That update is not for the 1060 version sadly, just the regular y7000p

I see. Could you try to use the Lenovo Vantage and check for the system update? If you don't have it you may download it here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/lenovo-vantage/9wzdncrfj4mv

Keep us posted.

Regards!

My system was already fully updated. Thanks for your help! Hopefully a fix comes for the fan speeds, or customizable settings.

Re: Lenovo y700p Fans Turn to Max Way too often

This is a video of the sound. Every 5 minutes fans goes into max, then runs lower for a little bit. Then off. Then back to max. Every 5 minutes, just with google chrome browsing and word usage. I've noticed the fans go above max when it goes above 50 degrees celcius
