Hello, my girlfriend put her z40-70 in hibernation mode this evening and it refuses to turn on. It was put in hibernation mode for at least 5 hours ago, but there is still heat radiating from the vents on the bottom. Also, when the AC adapter is plugged in no status lights come on.
I have tried removing the battery and various methods of holding down the power button for differing periods of time and plugging back in the AC adapter afterwards. Is there anything else which can be done?

Hi DreJr ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would the power button light up solid , amber blinking or totally off?
Would the number / caps lock or any other light show up ?
First try to check for functionality of the ac adapter charger .
If you also have a spare to try , just remove the battery and check if that would turn on .
Attempt to perform another power drain by removing the battery and unplug the charger .
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Connect the charger without any battery and turn it on using the Novo Key (item 2 page 9 ) or power button ( best to try both). Any changes?
The motherboard should at least have beep codes without the memory stick.
Put back the memory stick .
Try to turn on without the battery and harddrive.
Update us how it goes.

Thank you for the reply.
No lights blinking at all. I do not believe I have checked the caps lock/ num lights so I will do that.
1. Hard to test as it does not have a power light and no spares for the adapter or the battery.
I will run through steps 2 to 4 later when I am able and update afterwards.

Hi DreJr ,
In terms of using a different adapter :
Polarity of the port and voltage are the consideration in term of the adapter (both 20 V), wattage is much on its ability to supply power. But not advised although basically should work similar to this thread .
Take note that you may still have a charged battery and that it would not indicate power too.
Best that you call in tech support for service or have a local tech center verify possible board issue since they have testers and available tools to check further.
Hoping for the best

Hi DreJr ,
You may also check back with us on how things go with the tech for their suggestion.
It would be the best solution for a proble issue with the systemboard itself.

Hi, I have the same issue. I checked all the steps but still no light turning on. Since I tried the charger with another laptop, there is nothing wrong with the charger. Also, I tried removing the Hard drive but still no light is turning on. What should I do now?
