Just recieved my new (rethink) z710.
no matter what I try I can not get the wifi to connect to my virgin super hub 2. I can connect to next doors wifi but not the virgin hub.
Adapter is Broadcom 802.11n

Sorry in my haste to post I missed some info.
3 other laptops + mobile phones all connect to the router/internet with no problems, just the Z710.
I have re-booted the router many times with no improvement.
I have spoken with isp provider (virgin) and they have tried remotely to fix the problem and failed.
The router has been reset to factory defaults, no improvement.

I have been able to get to the internet via an rj45 cable into the router.
ALL available win 8.1 updates have been installed last night. still unable to use wifi after all updates.
(for me a cold boot is full power off & then turn on, so i'm a little confused by your description)
I have uninstalled the adapter dirivers and powered off/restarted, device was then detected. still unable to use wifi.
I have changed to broadcom driver from windows driver. still unable to use wifi.
As a short term fix I have installed mini usb wifi adapter (netgear) which is working. However I would prefer to fix the original problem as I need to take this to a clients site to use and I may loose the usb adapter (I'm like that!)

Just to clarify.
The wifi adapter installed in the laptop has never worked. I purchased it 31 Oct 2016.
Also, by power off I mean right click start/shutdown. allow laptop to fully shutdown. followed by a normal start up ie start from 'cold'.
not right click start/restart.
hope that helps, sorry if I confused the situation.
The laptop is only a few days old, it was re-furbished by Lenovo and sold by a licensed reseller with a 12 month warranty. However there is some problem, with the warranty, so at this point I'm on my own. Hence why I'm here asking for help. Which is greatly appreciated.
