I've been using this laptop with no major issues since 2012. Now it seems that everything is breaking apart.
My disk is giving errors all the time, I guess it must be on its last breaths. S.M.A.R.T has shown errors, also it breaks windows and it even broke a linux distro I have with disk errors.
I'm currently also able to only boot linux, for some very weird reason I can't even boot my windows 10 USB media, it "boots" but it goes to a permanent black screen. A fresh manjaro linux install is also taking a bit long to boot, but it seems it is working so far.
The laptop is also getting way too hot. So my questions:
I intend to upgrade the stock HDD to a SSD disk. It is possible to replace the HDD with a regular SSD? Does this model support, has ports to, a M.2 NVMe SSD? Is it possible to upgrade the BIOS of this laptop?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Yes it is possible to upgrade the current HDD to SATA3, 2.5 7 or 9 mm SSD just like those offered by other resellers. As per specifications from the hardware manual (page 26) this model do not offer m.2 post for an NVME SSD.
I hope this helps answer your query.

I would suggest to try to stick first with the current BIOS and review the read me file for the update fix if you have the same issue. Noted was only hotkey mode issue and prntscreen.
