My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

I've bought this Z40 70 laptop in 2015. It's been charging fine until June 2018, not sure what happened all of a sudden it just stopped charging at 1 or 2 percent even after charging for hours. It just goes off the moment i remove the Adapter pin.

Initially i thought the battery has gone and looked for replacement, but could not do so being in tour and so used my laptop by directly plugging the adapter. But after i came back, just thought of looking for replacement battery and googled for it, later i came to know this is something else and not the battery issue. Then i looked fr the solutions and tried as below.

I even tried to uninstal and reinstal the drivers of adapter and battery but the problem remains same, further i tried to update BIOS, but cld not do so as it saks the battery to be 30%, find pic attached, help me out at the earliest, thanks in advance.

Re: My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

Hi rennaveen,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have tried the steps mentioned here, them you can proceed following the hardware manual (page 21) for checking operational charge.

Using the battery indicator LED as reference, we expect that it shows amber (the battery has between 5% and 20% charge). Without powering the laptop, have it connected to the charger for 2-3 hours and notice if the battery indicator light would change to blinking white (battery has between 20% and 80% charge) then solid white (80%).

If there is no change then perhaps you can have it checked with any local service center to test the battery integrity first.

Update us ow it goes.

Regards

Re: My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

Thanks for response, yes i have tried the above advice and have put my Battery for more than 24 hours, the LED colour changed to white and the battery indactor (in Lenovo Vantage) showed 30% and was white in colour. But the moment I removed my adapter pin, the screen went off and again back to "0". Not sure, just to let you know, that I received some updates in may 2018 or June 2018, which i updated, will that be causing an issue?, why i am saying this is, facing this battery issue almost form this same, since iam not using the lap much, didnt bothered that time and thought this might be due not using the laptop much.

I even tried to find the rplacement yesterday in the market, but cld not find one and the battery charge shows "x" in Red colour. Iam living in UAE, also suggest me where i can get LENOVO SUPPORT or service, so that can take my laptop personally there if required and things dont work.

Also one more thing i cld see is the POWER led indicator is not glowing at all, all i cld see is the amber blinking in the battery charging, is this an issue other than Battery?. The system works well and fine when the adapter plugged in.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Re: My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

Hi @rennaveen !

Thanks for writing back,

Based on the description of the issue, it seems that battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. In this situation, the laptop is only relying on the power source as it only turn on when charging and turn off immediately as soon as the charger is unplugged, which indicates a battery problem. It would still be best to have a specialist diagnose the problem for us to have a better idea of what's causing the issue and what part needs to be replaced. You can bring it to the service center listed below:
