My lenovo y400 won't turn on

I tried everything starting from taking the battery out and I even made sure that the AC adapter was not faulty. I noticed that there is no light indicator as well when I connected the AC adapter to the laptop so I'm assuming that the problem lies elsewhere from the power supply ..

Please advise because I wasn't able to make any backups plus I have urgent matters which require my laptop to deal with

Hmm that's most unfortunate. Have you tried removing every device from your computer? Such as the USB drives, SD cards and such. I've noticed that my computer wouldn't boot up on occasion but removing all the devices from their physical ports allowed it to boot.

Re: My lenovo y400 won't turn on

I sent it for repair and what I feared actually turned out to be the main issue ... the motherboard is faulty and it needs to be replaced. Thing is that I live in a pretty isolated place (Mauritius, tiny island in the Indian Ocean) where spare parts can only be found online. I got a quotation from the technician I sent my laptop for a diagnosis and he said it won't be easy to find a genuine motherboard similar to the original one. He proposed me a second hand one valued at $300 but with only 3 months of warranty.

Should i proceed or invest in a new laptop? What makes it worse is that Lenovo'so budget gaming laptops such as their Y series aren't available in my country and the choice is pretty limited in terms of budget friendly quality gaming laptops

Hi there, Cold             -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

There could a chances of motherboard failure. If it is under warranty I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it replaced promptly.
