Re: NO NGFF in Lenovo Y510p

I would say that the ones that sell with the SSD as a feature will have them. However all others would be more like taking a gamble than anything.

I bought mine from Neweeg as well and it DOES NOT have the connector on the motherboard. I am extremely disappointed. It was sad enough to learn that 42mm was going to be such a limiting constraint. Now I find out I don't even have the connector. What the hell kind of deal is this?

I posted on my review of this laptop on the newegg page for this laptop about this issue. Hopefully more people will read that before buying if they intend to add SSD performance to this laptop.

The Y500 has the exact same thing next to the WiFi card slot. I use it for a place to house my third WiFi antenna.

I'm wondering if a connector could be added. The traces are obviously there....Can anyone confirm if the controller ison the other end of the solder runs?

I'm pretty sure that there's controller on the other side. I'm also almost sure that trying to add a connector will void your warranty..

I bought my y510p here in the US so this problem is not exclusive to Bulgaria.I bought it from Newegg. What good is the manufacturers warranty with respect to Lenevo, they left the connector off the board in the first place. I'm sure Newegg isn't going to be interested in taking a return since they sold it as advertised, and Lenevo will state it's not their problem, you bought it through Newegg. I'm an electronics tech, and do a lot of soldering. The traces are tiny, but it could be done. A warranty no one will honor in the first place....is no warranty at all. Unless I'm wrong and Lenevo wants it back to add the connector for me? Anyone?

No   the connector is missing on my y510p. I bought it from Newegg here in the US with the understanding that it would not include an ssd cache drive. Upon further inspection, it doesn't even have the connector! Feeling ripped off!

I baught the NGFF addapter that fits perfectly into the spot where it should be on the motherboard. I am fairly skilled soldererer and have tackled jobs harder than this.

I might solder it to the motherboard this weekend but dont have an NGFF drive to test with yet.

You can get the addapters online for about $2.

I wouldn't think it would be called an adapter if it's straight off the traces. Are you sure you're buying the right thing? Link?
