No Bootable Device Error

Hello,

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 with a 1TB HDD.

My laptop has been working perfectly fine until recently where it would not boot anymore.

I would always put my laptop on sleep mode, and recently and suddenly this is what happens:

Wake up from sleep to a blue screen, which almost immediately restarts the computer and the message that pops up is as follows:

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083)

Copyright © 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.2.7(11/02/10)

Check cable connection!

PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.

No bootable device --  insert boot disk and press any key

Now, that may not be the exact version numbers but that is basically the message that pops up.

WHAT I DID:

I restarted the laptop and went into the settings by pressing F2 and saw that my HDD was not detected in the boot sequence.

For my temporary fix, I reboot the laptop as many times needed and check the settings to see if the HDD shows up, if it does then the laptop boots perfectly and works with no issues.

The same thing occurs again when I put it back in sleep mode and try to start the computer again.

Can someone please help me with a fix for this? Or atleast guide me with this issue.

Is it SOFTWARE or is it HARDWARE related?

Thanks.

Re: No Bootable Device Error

I hope you're smart enough to have done a full backup when it came backup.

HD died, you got lucky and it came backup but not for long.
