Onekey recovery process is asking password....

Hi Friendz, I took Ideapad Y460 laptop with windows 7 pre installed having processor i5, 4GB RAM...etc in 2011 Janauray.

I have successfully used Onekey Recovery process and made the system to factory default settings 2,3 times in past. The last time was done almost 1 year back. The system is very slow and found many boot up files and applications and not sure what to keep what to not. So tried again using Onekey Recovery Process having intention to make the system default settings and then install good anti virus. But this time, OneKey Recovery is asking password which was never asked. I dont know what Password it is...tried with many but could not help it out. So installed Onekey rescue drivers from Lenovo site accordingly and tried but still it is asking the same password...Can you guys plz help me how to format/make to factory default settings of this laptop.......Thanks alot for your time on spending this....

If you can post a picture of the password prompt the better to clarify your problem.

Re: Onekey recovery process is asking password....

hi sharath2424,

In addition to what have already been suggested, your issue might be similar to this thread. I've seen this case before and this password can only be created inside the OneKey Recovery Mode (outside of Windows). There is no master password for this and it's really strange if nobody has setup the password and just suddenly come up automatically.

To restore the unit to factory settings, you can try to:

Option 1:

1. Create a recovery disc using this method and use it to restore the factory default settings.

2. Contact lenovo on how to obtain a copy of the recovery disc.

Option 2:

Alternatively, if the unit came with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, you can also:

3. Download a bootable Windows 7 Home Premium ISO on this website

4. From here you can:

     - burn the ISO using imgburn to create a bootable Windows 7 USB DVD

     - create a bootable Windows 7 USB flashdrive using this method.

5. Upon installation, it will automatically activate your copy of Windows via the SLP code on the BIOS. If this doesn't work, try the product key at the bottom of the unit and activate Windows by phone.

Note that this option will just install the OS. Check your D:\ drive to re-install the drivers or you may also get them at the lenovo website.

Regards

Re: Onekey recovery process is asking password....

Thank you neokenchi for the detailed explaination but I might be wrong in explaining my issue. Actually, in past I never used any CD/DVD's. I simply selected factory default settings and I was success in that. So this time also I am tryingin similar way, no DVD...no CD....trying to selecting Factory Default Settings option but this "Password issue" is coming into the picture. When I discussed with Lenovo Support, they told that it is related to software (OKR s/w) so Microsoft guys may assit me in this. Then I took their number from them and called Microsoft but they confirmed, that it is related to Lenovo and their support staff/ servicing center only have to fix the issue. I may need to contact Lenovo Servicing Center but not sure how much they will charge now.....it is going to be unnecessary expenses to me though I could not do any mistake......

Re: Onekey recovery process is asking password....

Thank you Alaa for the explaination. What is Novo button? Also, please note that My machine should go to factory default settings. I am not using any CD's/DVD's either for system back up or for any recovery process. My Aim is to set machine to factory default settings as How the system was there when I purchased initially....Thank you.

Re: Onekey recovery process is asking password....

Hi, I am encoutering the same problem.

I go for a one key recovery and after restarting and booting into recovery mode, it asks for password. I have never set any password for one key recovery.

Is there any way to reset the password for one key recovery? Or is there any way not to be forced to enter password when in recovery mode?

PS: Novo button and hitting f11 many times results in asking for password too.

THX
