Does anyone else have a "Manufactured for Lenovo" tag with a date in 2007 on the box? Mine says it was manufactured on 09/11/07. That could explain the Vista OS installation.

2 weeks to dust a laptop in Shaghai?  Should have used water and Sham Wow.

I did not check the box before I sent it back, but if that is true for most....draw your own conclusions.

Re: Ordered Windows 7, got Vista.

All,

On this issue, I understand that it has now been several days and we are working through a number of things including determining the affected customers so that we can proactively contact them concerning our action plan.

We've also stopped shipped, checked inventory on had to ensure no stock is in the pipeline with the Vista load and resumed manufacturing with the proper Win 7 image.

We are still working through some of the logistics for recovery, and there are a lot of things to co-ordinate across sales, service, support teams.  I am hopeful that we will be have updates ready tomorrow.

With regard to with wireless connectivity issues - please consider sharing those thoughts in a discussion about wireless connectivity - there are a lot of discussions on that, and the readycomm application here in the forum already - some may be helpful to you.  Let's keep this one focused on the image.

Tsakhan,

I don't believe our OEM keys would activate a shrink wrap windows.   I was requesting information from you because I thought you might have some information related to something else I had heard and I was trying to get more information.

Thanks for the feedback

Mark

It's funny you should bring that up because the label on my box says the same date (9/11/07).  Plus, above the S/N it says "IDEAPAD Y550 - 1 YEAR DEPOT" but I had upgraded the service warranty to 2yrs in my order. hm... fishy.

I assume that date is in the format YYMMDD, ie November 7, 2009.

Thanks for the link.... so here's the update:

the line right out of my order summary:

45J9075   IDEAPAD 2 YR SVS OS DIRECT

the line right out of the warranty check site:

Status: In warranty

Start date: 11/11/09  Expiration date:  11/10/10

So that's indeed a year. I might be confused about this. I might have to open a new thread about it.

Re: Ordered Windows 7, got Vista.

Ok now my Vista crap just gave me blue screen of death

there is a way to get the Product Key provided by lenovo to work but it would be considered "illegal"

The keys on the back only work with RTM versions of Win 7.... i will let  you guys figure out where to download the RTM version
