P52 screen replacement

2019-11-03, 22:26 PM

I'd like to replace the screen of my P52 but can not find any videos or guides on how to do this. The Lenovo website only shows replacing the entire LCD unit (the complete top half of the laptop). However, I did find a video that shows the replacement of a P51 screen on YouTube.

My question is: does anyone know if I can replace the screen of my P52 like it is replaced in the P51? And does anyone have any experience with replacing the P52 screen?

I have a question:  Do you have a touch screen?  The procedure is different.  Here is the manual:

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention: I have the model with the FHD non-touch screen. I would want it to replace it with the same screen.

Would I be able to replace the P52 screen by following the guide starting on page 113 of the manual you posted?

I was also unable to find any videos or Lenovo manual to help with the removal part # 01YN139/Lenovo Matte LED LCD.  Even calling Lenovo tech support, they essentially said they couldn't help.
I did find the following to be true though:

  • unplug from power
  • remove battery
  • remove the display bezel
  • pull the two small black 'tabs' on top of the display (this is the adhesive tape...think of how you'd remove a Command hook)
  • remove the cable (carefully - there's videos on this part)
  • Unless your new display comes with new adhesive...try to reuse

The service manual is posted above - Did you miss that part? Or maybe you don't understand what a service manual is - In which case let me explain - the "service manual" is the Lenovo technician step by step procedure on how to disassemble and reassemble the entire p52 laptop and all variants identified within that manual - No - Lenovo does not have a video service manual - download the pdf file that was provided above in the link - put your reading glasses on and get after it. Fairly straight forward - if you are not comfortable undertaking this then send it to an authorized service center, or a basic service repair facility for a more cost effective option if you don't want to pay a premium for the Lenovo authorized tech to do the repairs. As for me, myself and I - I would read the book - watch a few YouTube video's on older models that show similar repairs and replace the screen myself.
