Problem switching Wifi adapter

Hi,

I want to use the WIDI on my Ideapad Z580 but the Atheros wifi card isn't compatible.

So I bought an Intel Centrino N-6230 and installed it (no problem).

As I start the laptop , just after Bios I have an error message "Wifi card not compatible, please switch";

How can I use the new wifi card (the bios is to basic to change something).

Thks

Re: Problem switching Wifi adapter

Welcome to the forum.  Smiley Very Happy

Unfortunately, you can't just use any WiFi card in your Lenovo Z580. You have to use a card that has the Lenovo FRU stamped on it.

Please see this thread. Read the whole thread.

Please note:  Even if you get a new Intel WiFi card, the WiDi probably will not work. WiDi has to be pre-installed by the factory (Lenovo) for it to work. Smiley Sad

Here is the HMM for the Z580:

These are the Wireless cards it supports:
