Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Hi everybody.

I know every laptop model has different "normal" temperature stats, so I decided to write here, and to ask owners of Lenovo Y570.

Recently I came to doubt if my temperatures are OK. Here is what I have:

Temps.JPG

My regular temp is the one on the left (its right now till writing that post). Most of the time, during gameplay (Skyrim for example) I got the Max temp values.

Do you think those values are normal and is there something I can do about them (aside form stop using the laptop forever Smiley Happy )?

Thanks.

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Completely not normal. Your CPU is on the verge of thermal throttling since the maximum temperature before the CPU starts to throttle is at 100 celsius. Clean your heatsink vents and the vents below the laptop and get a laptop cooler to lower your temps. I consider 95 degrees the max while you're gaming. My power hungry i7 is always below 93 degrees when gaming.

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

The problem is that I clean the mentioned vents every month with no effect. I also have a cooler pad, which for me is absolutely not useful.

Do you think this might be addressed by the warranty now, or should I wait for the laptop to get of fire before that Smiley LOL?

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Does the laptop ever turned off all of the sudden while gaming? If it does even after cleaning the vents then you should really talk to Lenovo customer support. I don't really know if the overheating issues are covered by the warranty though.

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Nope, it doesn't turn of, although the surface gets as hot as my frying pan and I can't hold my hand on it for more that 4-5 seconds. Actually the temp of Core 1 reached 100 C, half an hour ago....

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Does your game lag when your CPU is reaching 100 C? It wouldn't be surprising if it does.

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Yep it does that. Some time (about 15-20 minutes depending on the game) it starts lagging for a while and the fps drop dramatically. Than some time after that it goes fine, and after a while it lags again. This repeats all the time....

Re: Question about temperatures of Y570 ?

Your CPU is screaming for cold air lol. I suggest you call Lenovo support as it's not normal for Y570 with clean vents to reach 100 C. I just played NFS HP and Blacklight Retribution earlier for an hour on my Y470 and I'm running at maximum GHz the CPU can do (2.8 with 4 cores for blacklight - 3.0 GHz with 1 - 2 cores with NFS HP) and the max recorded temperatures is 87 oC without cooling pad and 68 F / 20 C celsius room temperature. I didn't get any lags at all.
