A family member recently sent in their laptop for RMA to Lenovo because the charger stopped working. It was diagnosed with a faulty part on the board and was replaced.
Not only did it take a month for this issue to be fixed, but now the Laptop is having insane flickering issues that are plaguing many other y40, y50 and y70 users. The problem started right away when the laptop was received, but wasn't too bad and it was such a hassle that it wasn't sent back.
Some time later, the laptop is almost impossible to use when on the battery. There is no flickering that occurs when it is charging and connected to the charger. We have tried updating drivers, installing and uninstalling Lenovo Energy Manager, BIOS update (though not the new 3.03 y50/y70 version).
What is the solution here? Why is it taking so long to get a fix for this issue that so many people have? Why does this BIOS update not work on the older y40-70 model or the newer y40-80? Is the y40 model just not going to be fixed?
