Re: Ram memory

Its easy. Indeed easy. Just to inform you, your laptop can support maximum 8gb RAM. You can refer to the hardware maintenence manual for help and the youtube video.
Btw which z series. If you want you use the hmm index below to consume less time.

Just to inform you, if you have a z500, then this might void warranty.

Re: Ram memory

Does windows built in memory diagnostic work for you with more than 4gb, with 8gb and 16gb i get a black screen and have to hold the power button down, though the z580 seems to work OK.

Re: ideapad Z580 - whats the maximum support RAM size?

16gb works fine in my Win7 Z580, i ran Memtest86+ v5.00b no errors, i ran windows experience index (wei) and my scores remained the same no bootst from 8gb to 16gb i get 7.5 for memory.

I ran wprime the long 1024m test and it passed no problems, i ran metro 2033 on my HD4000 and it ran great, i think i runs slighly smoother on 16gb over 8gb.

This is only a quick test, i will report again after a few days, if i can find this thread again.
