Geek Squad worked on my PC and failed to reinstall the DVD drive software and now my DVD player won't read or recognize DVDs...doesn't work. No software. So I'm trying to find a download for that original software. I looked through all the downloads for my PC but it's not there. Probably why they didn't reinstall it. How do I get that back? Does anyone know of any free software / drivers online? I know we are getting away from DVDs but I have some files on DVDs that I need to get to (yep they still used cd/dvds for it) Thanks in advance.
(PS...I don't know why "What's DOS?" appears under my user name in this forum...of course I know what that is!?

Hi dnipper ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you have the machine number of your product ?
What Windows version do you have and what happened before the issue started?
Normally windows itself would be able to play and recognized the DVD not unless that it is corrupted or that the DVD itself is still good (hardware speaking). Here are basic methods that you can try.
Update us how it goes.

I can access data files, but it will not play DVD movies. I used to have a Lenovo DVD Player, but it's missing. I have attached a picture of the error.

I also tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling...not working. I'm thinking I just need DVD movie player like the original software that was on there, but it does not recognize my Laptop as eligible to download the software even though we used to have the Lenovo Power DVD. So that's probably all I really need back. What do I do to get it?

I tried to download and install PowerDVD...i finally found it. But when it tries to install it said it can only be installed on a lenovo system. UGH! Darn you Geek Squad! For some reason it is no longer recognizing that I have a Lenovo laptop. so close!

That "not a Lenovo laptop" error message is misleading. You're probably getting that because the DVD software available for download is an update, and requires that the original software be present.
Did the Geek Squad completely wipe your main drive, or just reinstall C: or ????
The installer for the original/as shipped DVD software is sometimes present in a D: partition.
