Running the notebook on AC power

Hi.
I have a 3 weeks old Y410 and I'm very satisfied and happy with it!

My notebook is running on a 6 cell battery which has limited charge capacity for me as I would use the notebook for school, work and entertainment. It is known that the charge capacity of a battery will gradually reduce due to prolonged charging. One of a way that I have figured out to reduce charging of the battery is to run the notebook on AC power without the battery on when I'm at home. Is there anyone who runs their notebook on AC when at home? Is it advisable to run the notebook just on AC power without the battery on? Or is there any other way to maximise the lifetime of the battery?

Cheers~

Re: Running the notebook on AC power

I too now run laptop on AC without battery, after my battery died. Its ok to run on AC as long as there is no interruption. I will suggest to buy a belkin surge protector at least. but follow instructions for battery charging & storage.
