SSD not being detected in BIOS for Y700

2016-08-31, 3:24 AM

Hi everyone,

Needs some help here... I have bought a Y700 few days ago that come with a 256GB M.2 SSD in it and I just bought another SATA III 480GB SSD as a secondary drive (already got the cable and bracket),  I have installed in but the BIOS/Window didnt detect it. Any idea why is this? Is there any setting in BIOS I have missed?

I have already updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, Cyrus            -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Your laptop has connection for an optional second SATA HDD. However the manual does not show the connection, only the outer case.

It also does not show any images of the BIOS.

I would guess, you have to enable the second SATA controller in the BIOS.

On booting up, when you get to the splash screen, click Del, or the hot key to take you to the bios.

It's probably under BIOS setup or SATA configuration. If present, enable it and it should be functional.
