Static using headphones on Y40

I have constant static when using headphones whenever there is an audio-using program open. If system sound is muted, there is no static, and if there are no videos/audio players/skype/etc open, the static will disappear after a few seconds.

I have tried using the generic windows audio driver, the driver that came with the computer, as well as the current windows8.1 driver from RealTeck's website. The problem is the same with every driver.

I have tried using multiple pairs of studio headphones; the problem persists.

There is no static problem when I use a usb DAC/headphone amplifier.

I just got the computer a couple days ago, and this is bad enough that I'll probably send it back if I can't resovle it soon.

System Specs:

• 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4510U Processor (2.00GHz 1600 MHz 4MB)
• Windows 8.1 64bit
• AMD Radeon R9 M275 4GB
• 16.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz

Re: Static using headphones on Y40

Probably the Realtek chip. The one on my Flex 15 would produce a constant hiss whenever it wasn't muted. Never found a fix for it.
