Touchpad doen't work properly on Lenovo Y510P

Touchpad on Lenovo Y510P has come to the point in which is useless at all. I bought the laptop from a friend of mine and he told me about the issue but I thought I was not going to use the touchpad as much so it was fine to me. It was working just fine with some lagging here and there, but now it us just useless. clicking, jumping, lagging all the time. I tried uninstalling and installing a new driver from lenovo and it ended up being a waste of time because it just made it worst. I tried downgrading From windows 10 to windows 8 and it didn't work either. Plus I also tried doing a fresh installation of the latest driver I found for Elan touchpad and it helped a little, but still there. I really just don't know what else should I do

I am currently running the latest version of Windows 10 Home 64bit, and since going back to windows 8 didn't help at all I just don't consider going back to it as an option anymore. Also I did notice that while reinstalling windows 10 the touchpad was working perfectly fine, and I believe so that it was because it was running with a generic driver windows might provided for it to be usefull during the installation. Thoughts?

Re: Touchpad doen't work properly on Lenovo Y510P

Hi there, Andiml         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Did issue persist in safe mode as well? Try disabling the touchpad & re-enable.

  1. Go to the upper right side (corner) of the screen to bring out the charms menu and go into PC Settings.
  2. Click on PC and Devices.
  3. You should see something related to mouse or TouchPad.
  4. If there is an option, you can disable it.

You can also try these,

  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Click on Device Manager.
  3. Find and Click on Mice and other pointing devices.
  4. Select the MousePad and right click on it.
  5. If there is an option then DISABLE it or click on PROPERTIES.
  6. Go to the Driver tab and click Disable.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Re: Touchpad doen't work properly on Lenovo Y510P

You can start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Touchpad doen't work properly on Lenovo Y510P

Nothing happened actually, but i have to say that afte updating to the latest windows version it did change a little. the pad still gets stuck every now and then but now is less frecuently, also the lag sorta stopped. But, now the touchpad speed is kinda messed up, I tried changing the speed settings but it did not change anything whatsoever.
