I have Lenovo Y550 Series Laptop, bought in Feb'2007 with following configurations :
1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD running on WinXP SP2.
Now, I want to Upgrade this to
a High End Processor, 320 GB SATA HDD, 4 GM RAM
But my Dealer says that Processor can't be Upgraded due to Compatibility Issue. Is it True, Please Guide me!!!!
Thanks in Advance.

The issue with upgrading the processor is the chipset limitations. I believe in your case, the chipset on board only supports Core2Duo chips, and not i3/i5/i7 series. I'm not sure how available Core2Duo processors for notebooks are for consumers.

The money and effort you would spend in addition to the fact that it will not be covered by any warranty makes the cost of upgrades higher than just buying a new one with closer specs.
Buy a new computer. It will come with better stuff, cheaper.
