USB 3.0 Problem Lenovo ideapad Z710 Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Brand New Z710

USB 3.0 throttling down to 0 MB/s constantly. Tried two drives and working fine on different PC USB3.0

Latest MS 8.1 in box driver 6.3.9600.17031 installed.  Tried Intel chipset driver from Lenovo version 9.4.0.1026 but previous MS in box driver persists.

MS kb2919355 is installed

USB 2.0 fine.

USB Tree Tree View shows "Device General Failure" on Port 15.

Device Manager reports no errors.

Please advise.

This is a weird one.

Have you tried booting is safe mode and seeing if problem persists?

Re: USB 3.0 Problem Lenovo ideapad Z710 Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Have you tried plugging something different into the USB outlet? If so and still responds in the same way, it's one of 2 things;

Driver issue

Or

Hardware problem

For the driver, do a complete uninstall of the driver, then reinstall it with a fresh download of the driver. If that doesn't work then if you can find a old driver, try that.

If none of that works, you may need to send it in for repairs as long as you have warranty. But don't take my word for it being a hardware issue, someone else might know more about this issue.

Re: USB 3.0 Problem Lenovo ideapad Z710 Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Thanks iDesign.

I have tried uninstalling the driver and installing Intel chipset driver from Lenovo version 9.4.0.1026 but as I said because in Windows 8.1 its an "out of box" driver this is the driver that persists when the hardware is found on reboot.

On a broad Google search it does appear that others have experienced some difficulty with USB on 8.1 and I was hoping that someone may be able to recommend a specific fix for this laptop.

Or indeed whether anyone can throw any light on USB Tree Tree View showing "Device General Failure" on Port 15 being a driver or hardware related problem.

Thanks again.
