Hi all,
I just can't figure out how to send audio out through my HDMI cable. I've gotten the latest drivers from nvidia, but in the sound manager in the control panel, it tells me that the nVidia HDMI output is unplugged even when the cable is in the port.
Thanks,
Jimmy

I'm unable to set as default because the computer is unable to recognize the HDMI connection

Can you please tell which model you own and if you have discrete or integrated videocard?
As well try adjusting default audio device not from tray but from control panel >> sound.

I have the Lenovo Y550 - 41864AU
My graphics card is the GeForce 130 M
Tray and Control Panel bring up the same menu as does the Realtek HD Audio manager

Try:
Plug-in cable to both laptop and TV, only then turn both on.

Problem solved. Just required an update to the nvidia drivers
