Upgrading Z570 to dual-band wifi

I live in a neighborhood with lots of 2.4GHz Wifi (and other) activity, and would like to swap out the wireless card in my Lenovo Z570 so I can use the 5GHz band as well.  Is there an official upgrade I can purchase from Lenovo for this?  If not, can I get an Intel Wifi card to replace it, or possibly get a Thinkpad-certified card if that is necessary?  I understand that the BIOS may prevent non-approved cards from being recognized and used in my system.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Upgrading Z570 to dual-band wifi

From the Z570 hardware maintenance manual, the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6250 agn + WiMax will work fine. You can purchase the Lenovo version of it here

Make sure the FRU P/N is 60Y3195. Here's the ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=60Y3195&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Hope this works for your Z570.

Ordered a card, thanks! I'll post here if it doesn't work out, but I'm sure it will. Thank you again.

Re: Upgrading Z570 to dual-band wifi

I had the same question, and ordered & rec'd the part recommended.  I installed it and booting up my laptop I get the error that the adapter is unsupported.  I had to take it out before windows would load.  Do I need a new driver, too?
