I got my Y510p around two weeks ago, and as expected the Wifi is crap. I was wondering if I could upgrade my wireless card into Intel AC 7260. Would the AC wifi work properly, the fact that it has dual band 2,4 and 5. If it is possible but I need to remove the Whitelist from the BIOS, please let me know where to find the tutorial on how to remove it.

Modding BIOS voids warranty so if you bricked your laptop or some hardware malfunction occured after the modded BIOS flash, Lenovo won't repair your laptop. Try uninstalling the Proset drivers and then remove all of the drivers in the device manager by checking "delete driver software..." while unistalling the WiFi card drivers. Youll then be running Microsoft's 188.8.131.52 which gives stable WiFi.

I'm currently using an Wireless-AC 7260 and have no complaints so far. It's perfectly stable, awesome range, and aside from not too many drivers currently released, it's perfect. The Wireless-N version is suppose to be equal aside from not having the Wireless-AC bands.
Also, it only voids the warranty if you tell Lenovo you modded your BIOS.

Ok thank you very much.
I was wondering if you can check if this is the correct wireless card: Newegg.ca . If you know a better one that would be great.
And if you can tell me how to mod your BIOS, or show me a post that talks about it. Assuming that you modded your BIOS to get a different Wireless card.
Thank you again.

Yes, that is the exact wireless card I am currently using, and you can get the mod here if they don't block the link.

I have a y510p with BIOS 3.05 and Windows 8. I installed an Intel 7260 AC card (Lenovo FRU, not generic card) and received the BIOS unsupported card message.
I spoke to Lenovo support, and they are having me return the machine. They acknowledge that a card with a Lenovo FRU should be supported.
I will be sending them the machine with the Intel 7260AC + BT 4.0, FRU #04W3814 pre-installed. Note that the Bluetooth portion of the card seems to work fine.
I am very appreciative that Lenovo will be addressing this (although I wish I didn't have to give up the machine for a week or so).

That's the first time I heard Lenovo giving support for the WLAN replacement. Now we know the key is to buy a Lenovo FRU card so that they give support for it.
I wonder if they'll do the same in other locations.

Another card which does not work, although it should is the Broadcom 943228 ABGN 2x2 card + BT 4.0, Lenovo FRUs 04W3763 / 04W3764.
If it helps Lenovo, I have attached photo.
The performance of the y510p deserves nothing but the best in wlan cards.
