Hello, I currently own a Lenovo Y570 laptop with (appearently) the FCPGA988 cpu socket on the motherboard, is that correct? I had a few questions on the upgradeablility of this laptop
1. This is a compatible CPU with the Y570, right? It has the same watt useage and socket as the i7-2670QM thats in my laptop.
2. On Intel's website, it says that this CPU supports 1600 mhz ram, IF I were to upgrade to this CPU, would I be able to stick 1600mhz ram in there with it?
I know what your thinking: this processor costs more than your laptop! I know, I know but I wouldnt get it now, rather in a few years when the price is down and my laptop is really struggling. I would probably put this processor in as well as 16gb of 1600mhz ram. Thanks for your replies!
EDIT: I'm an idiot! I forgot to put the CPU in there! Its the i7-3820QM with a 3GHz base clock and 3.9GHz turbo
