What is the maximum Ram capacity for Y570?

I bought the machine 2 weeks ago with 8G ram in it.

Does it still have room for memory upgrade or has it reached the limit already?

thanks

Re: What is the maximum Ram capacity for Y570?

Thanks for the link, I really hope that's true.

I found another link suggesting 8G is the top density already (hope not)

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=IdeaPad%20Y570&Cat=RAM

While their statement is a bit confusing

'Maximum Memory: 8GB

Slots: 2

Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800 with a maximum of 8GB Kit (4GBx2) per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Has anyone got some offcial info from Lenovo?

Re: What is the maximum Ram capacity for Y570?

the intel chipset can support 16 gigs of ram, at the time of production only 4 gigs ram module was available commercially, as such the maximum ram was rated at 8 gigs when in actuality 16 gigs is the max when you used 2 x 8 gigs ram modules.
