Wifi issues on z50-75

2019-11-08, 14:25 PM

So as the title says, i've recentlly been having connectivity issues with my Lenvo z50 laptop. The wifi will just randomly disconnect and when I try to reconnect its says, "Cannot connect to this network". I've tried everything, from resetting to going to the device manager and unticking the box that says allow windows to turn off to save power. The only way to get wifi back is to turn off my laptop, but even then it still keeps on happenening. It's mad annoying and I don't see anyone else on the internet having the same problems as I do. So someone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Community Forums!

We would like to get additional details about your concern so that this can be sorted out properly.

  1. Does this also happens when you connect your Z50-75 laptop to a different WiFi network/connection?
  2. Are there any system/software updates that were installed or downloaded on the device before it happened?

One of the steps that can be performed here is to uninstall your device's network adapter, it can be done by:

  • Going to Device Manager by right clicking on the Start/Windows symbol
  • Clicking the arrow that's next to the Network Adapter category
  • Right click on your Internet Adapter (could be Realtek/Atheros) and select Uninstall, check the box if you're also asked to delete it off your folder as well
  • Restart the device, the driver will automatically re-install as soon as you restarted it.

Try connecting it back to the WiFi again once you're back on the desktop.

You can also update your network driver through this link should you encounter the same result.

Additional troubleshooting steps for intermittent WiFi issue can be also found here.

Let us know if this'll get the job done. Thanks!

This problem doesn't actually seem to happen that much on other wireless networks. This problem has been going on for quite a while now, so I really don't know if there is any software downloaded before the problems started to arise. I've already tried unistalling my driver then reinstalling it, but it doesn't work. When I updated it from the site, the wifi didn't disconnect for almost the whole day, but now the problems back.

hi ,According to your description, this problem does not occur when connecting other WiFi, then I suggest you check if your WiFi router network is stable or not.

I am having the exact same issue with my Lenovo laptop. My phone and my work computer connect to the same wifi, and they NEVER get dropped like this, so my router is stable.

Yeah, same issue here. WiFi keeps randomly dropping by Z50-75, gaming rig without problem. So that's NOT a modem/router issue.

Started cca.  two months ago. I'm no aware to install any software/update on this notebook.

I'm not sure if it's related but the touchpad is hot as hell. You can really warm your fingers in winter on it....

So it's defo an issue with the Z50.

I forgot I've here some ThinkPad-series notebook from work, so I let them ran for 2hrs. "Work's one" without any problem of losing connection; Z50-75 needed the wi-fi restart like every 6mins...
