Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

Hello everyone. Ever since I've installed Windows 8.1 RTM I've kept getting a "Secure boot isn't configured properly" watermark on my machine. The problem is that the secure boot option is enabled in the BIOS (and cannot be changed).

The problem is that Windows 8 detects that it isn't. Any ideas what could be the issue?

It doesn't affect my work, but the watermark is very annoying.

Thanks you for the info,

I just updated my Z500T. So far, no problem.

I swtch off secureboot before updating. I made another manual update under 8.1. Then switch back to on after.

Re: Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

I'm sorry, but what should we do now to change our problem?

In the BIOS I can change Secure Setup. But the Secure Setup Status right underneath it always shows in Disabled.

I've actualy no clue, what the other two options (restore this or that) would actually do...

Re: Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

If you have UAC completely disabled, the answer is this RegEdit:

Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Key: EnableLUA

Value data: 0

Re: Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

Glad to hear that helped!

I've since run into another problem with this issue... the new (and pretty good) Facebook App for 8.1 wil not run with UAC disabled. So, I re-enabled UAC to the lowest available setting and the "secure boot" message is back on my desktop.

I'll find the solution tomorrow when I have more time. Let me know if you figure it out first!

Re: Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

Any modern application cannot run with UAC fully disabled. I've tried it before. Something is really crazy. There's a thread over on Microsoft that just exploded since they released the update.

"If you have UAC completely disabled, the answer is this RegEdit:

entVersion\Policies\System

The registry changes the watermark only, doesn't it?

In the BIOS the Secure Start was still disabled.

PS: It seems this occurs on different systems and is not really fixable yet...

Re: Windows 8.1 - Secure boot isn't configured properly

I think I found the solution; I choce the option Restore Factory Keys - and now everything works fine.

My BIOS is InsydeH2O Setup Utility...

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
