Like a number of people on this forum, I want to get rid of Win 8.1 and upgrade to Win 7 64 bit. I ordered a new copy of Win 7 from TigerDirect and recieved it the other day. My main concern at this point is perhaps silly, but...well I'm not the sharpest tool in the drawer.
They sent me an OEM version of Win 7. On the packaging, it states that this is intended for "preinstallation on the hard drive of the fully assembled computer system, using the OEM pre-installation tools."
My main concern is finding out that I can't register this version of Windows because its not a "new" computer. I've copied the Lenovo D drive containing the Application, Drivers and Lenovo folders onto a USB drive, so if worse comes to worse, I can go back to the original install, but do I need to be worried? And I know I'm going to be sorry I asked this, but is there anything else to be concerned about? Driver availability? Compatibility?
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
