Re: Wireless-N Not Working

Just found the QoS option that I had missed. Enabling it fixed it. Thanks for all your help.

Is DD-WRT better than Linksys?

Re: Wireless-N Not Working

DD-WRT gives you quite a bit more configuraton options than stock Linksys firmware.  However, if you don't need the advanced functionality there really isn't much reason to flash the replacement firmware (and the hassle of learning how to get it all done).

Re: Wireless-N Not Working

Great advice and great link.  I have an over priced Netgear WNR3500v2 router and a new X201 tablet.  Since December I have been searching the internet and the settings on the two devices trying to get full wireless N 300 mgb speed.  Hours wasted.  All I had to do is enable WMM and QoS as per your advice.  I now have full 300 mgb speed.  Thanks

Y560 802.11n cannot use

I'm using my laptop to connect to my uni's wifi which they have 802.11n,

my fd is using macbook pro and he can access to 802.11n and download with 13mb/s

however, my laptop can just access to 802.11g and download with around 3 mb/s

I have tried most of the method, changing to WPA2/AEC and set in intel Prowireless setting

I have searched for solutions in internet but nothing works for me.

Can anyone help?

Re: Wireless-N Not Working

Actually what fixed it for me (and I have an ASUS router)...

I was using the 5GHz band and had these issues of only getting like 54Mbps on speed tests, and the adapter status saying the same things.

I found out that I had my router settings set to 20MHz only for the 5GHz band. I changed it to 20/40 mixed, and I now get 150Mbps in the adapter status and my speeds are above 50Mbps when speed testing!!! I get like 180Mbps download now Smiley Very Happy

Also I do NOT have QoS enabled, but QoS would help if you have gamers in your household... mainly in THIER benefit hahaha.

Re: Wireless-N Not Working

Also even my mobile devices jumped from 100Mbps to 180+Mbps as well!

So I'd assume these are the fixes...

Go into your router settings and for the 2.4GHz Band, change your channel bandwidth to 20MHz.

For the 5GHz Band, change your channel bandwidth to 20/40MHz or maybe even 40MHz if you don't have that option?

Also set your Wireless Mode to "N Only" and make sure all devices can connect. If they can (which most modern devices support N Only), this will also boost your speeds.

And some other things mentioned on here as well like the AES password and such, that should fix it!! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Y560 802.11n cannot use

Kind of sounds like your wireless adapter doesn't support N, sounds like a pretty old device... Either make sure your internal adapter supports N, or get an external adapter that supports N, or upgrade your laptop to a newer model that has N internally...
