Y31-70 some keys not working

HI guys, since yesterday some keys are not working in my Lenovo, such as F1, F2, left cntrl, number five and six.

I already restore the system, i did a windows clean install , updated the drivers, in resume: I did everything everyone that I found in foruns and nothing solve the error.

Someone knows some miracle to solve the situation ( I found out right now that question mark is not working too )

Thanks in advance

Re: Y31-70 some keys not working

Hi rafa_mota04 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number? Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

Would onscreen keyboard and external USB keyboard work?

You can try setting the defaults in the BIOS (exit tab) then save and exit and recheck.

If still the same check the numbers 5 and 6 in the BIOS if working ( security password would allow you to type but do not save since it is just a test) .

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Y31-70 some keys not working

Hi there

MTM 80M5
80M500ETPG

I tried the number five and six in bios and this is not working, i tried the defaults settings in BIOS and this is not working,  an external keyboard is working.

It seems a hardware issue, my laptop is still in warranty but I am living at this point in a different country than the one I bought the laptop and I dont have with me the proof of purchase.

How do i need to proceed in order to get it repair ( through the warranty )

Thanks in advance

Have a nice day

Re: Y31-70 some keys not working

Hi rafa_mota04  ,

Greetings.

Seems the hardware issue on the keyboard is the point of failure as it fails on BIOS.

For In Warranty repair usually original country of machine origin would be the best to cover as they have the needed parts and that warranty is tied to it  (would work if have someone you can authorize to represent you for the repair on the original country of sale) .

You may however get option to check for possible Limited International Warranty but they would require documentation of proof of purchase and proof of travel for the U31-70 .

The part number that you can order may be listed on the parts lookup page (ex. 5CB0J30975 Upper Case C U31-70 BKL White PO) and compare it to the FRU list on the hardware  manual as it show directional guide (page 51 , 64) to the replacement of the upper case as it houses the keyboard .

Regards
