Y40-70 screen came off unhinged, display no longer works

This week my screen came off the hinge and the plastic frame that goes around the screen came off as well, but the display was still working. A couple days later, the screen went off and now it won't display anything (I'm assuming it's a worn out wire because before the screen came apart I would get a static-y screen every now and then). The internals still work fine because I can still hear music playing from my laptop, but I can't do anything because the screen is dead.

Is this laptop fixable or do I have to suck it up and get a new computer?

Re: Y40-70 screen came off unhinged, display no longer works

Hi tequileros97 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may still use it having it plugged in with an external monitor .

It maybe just an LCD cable, bezel  and hinge that needs replacement .

Herewith are the service training video and hardware manual for reference but if you need tools just have it checked with any local service center or best buy so they may approximate repair pricing.

You can check on the part number needed on the parts lookup page .

Update us how it would work best for you.
