I bought my Y40-80 like 4 years ago and changed the batery with a new one before 1,5 years. Suddenly last week, the battery indicator stuck to 100% all time whenever I disconnect the AC adapter and the battery randomly dies, after some minutes of use, resulting my laptop to have 0% battery. Then the battery charges normally back to 100%, and then all over again, whenever I disconnect the adapter, the battery dies after a short period of time. I have already tried to uninstall the ACPI battery drivers and reboot the laptop, but it did not help. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
It maybe that there is mis readong of the actual battery physical charge.
It can be best to check the battery indicator (page 28) as reference.
The battery indicator is expected to show blinking amber with 5% charge. Have it plugged in for 2-3 hours (without powering on the laptop) so we should expect that the amber would turn to white.
Update us how it goes on your machine.

I let the battery to discharge, which happened in 2-3 mins. I had the laptop turned off and plugged in over night. The next day, the battery light is blinking amber, percentage is stuck to 0% and the batery info says "Plugged in, charging", but actually it is not. If I try to remove the AC adapter, the laptop will shut down. I had it plugged in for hours, but i keep getting the 0% available message.

Charging features are detected ok with Windows properly detecting the battery and trying to charge but it appears that the internal substances of the battery are not consumable to store power.
Having the same blinking amber after several hours plugged in and still remains amber indicate that the battery may be needing replacement now as the hardware manual (page 28) suggested.
