I have a year and a half old Y40 that out of nowwhere went blank. It then kept hibernating and un hibernating on it's own and depending on where I moved the screen on the laptop it would try to boot. I was able to get it to stay up if I plugged into a monitor and thought it would be a good idea to do a hard boot.
Now the laptop will not turn on at all. A lot of what I'm reading seems to point to a motherboard, but on a 1.5 year old laptop that I take good care of? Ideas? Solutions anyone?

Hi there, Bretty -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.
Please re-seat the hard disk & swap the Ram with different slots.
Update us how it goes.
Tap that kudos button if I helped

Thank you for this solution! I am a bit surprised it worked.
I had already tried the static dump and reseating the RAM but had not swapped RAM slots or reseating the HDD. I was thinking the worst. I am up and working now!
Any diagnosis you can guess at? I take good care of the machine, no bumps or bruises, this just came out of nowhere! Does it mean i have a bad RAM slot? Something just came loose?
Also, thank you again, I was feeling very frustrated that my 18 mos old laptop had just quit working, I appreciate the assistance.
UPDATE: I'm already back.. It appeared to be working ok, in fact it was BUT then I put the bottom cover back on and plugged it in and we're back to the same issue that started it all.. hibernating / un hibernating or appearing to be on and a blank screen (but if I plug an HDMI into it, it's working on a monitor, just not laptop screen)
UPDATE #2: With the bottom cover off the laptop, it seems to have better luck staying on. But it's almost like it thinks i'm closing the lid or something and tries to hibernate over and over (obviously something being pressed right? A wire from the screen that makes it think it's closed?)
UPDATE #3: Ok, I changed the "Close the Lid" settings so that if you close the lid, nothing happens. This has resolved the problem of the laptop hibernating / unhibernating BUT the screen keeps turning on and off (I assume because it thinks the lid is closed). If I wiggle the screen or get the laptop just right, the screen will stay on. If my hands are pressed to hard or leaning on keyboard, screen goes off.. Ideas anyone???
Ok, the latest... If i hold the laptop screen in a certain position, it works, if not, it goes black like its closed
