Hi JaZZyCooL,

Thanks for posting in the Lenovo Community,

I’d like to ask you did your Lenovo Y400 came a preloaded operating system windows 8?

If it came with windows 8 Pre-installed so could you please try to recover the system using the system recovery by pressing in the one key recovery the button with the curve arrow next to the power button,

And then choose from the options that came to you: System Recovery,

And then Step1 choose restore from initial backup,

And then start the process and please make sure that the charger is connected during the operation and nothing interrupts the operation while running on,

I’d like to confirm to you that this operation will return the machine back to the initial state and all ur data will be erased and the machine will be back as new,

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

Soha
