Y410p reformat windows 8 onto ssd 24gb?

I just got the y410p and thought it would have windows 8 installed onto the 24gb ssd, but instead its installed on the 1tb harddrive. Is there any way I could do a fresh install of everything onto the 24gb ssd? Would it have enough space for windows 8? It didn't come with a CD so I have no idea how to reinstall windows 8 if I needed to anyway.

Re: Y410p reformat windows 8 onto ssd 24gb?

hi Mr_Linning,

 Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If your system came preinstalled with 1TB HDD + 24GB SSD. It is definitely configured for Caching.

If the SSD is only 24GB, yes it will take and accommodate a Windows 8 + drivers and applications but you will end up placing all your other document to the HDD. So even if your OS is fast because of the SSD accessing the HDD saved documents will still run with HDD speed.

The reason for caching is to combine the HDD storage size and SSD speed together and work as one.

but if you still want to push through with the SSD as Windows drive,

you can follow this upgrade guide, just ignore the upgrade SSD portion and all other applies to Cloning the Windows 8 to the SSD.

Best Regards
