Re: Y430 Out to External Display in BIOS

Hi,

My Y430 laptop screen is broken. I can only see the upper corner of the screen. In Vista, I have been using Fn+f3 to output to an external display  But my Windows Vista won't load, so I am trying to figure out if I can output to the external display in the BIOS menu.

Here is what I can see of the BIOS Menu:

Main  Adva

System Time

System DAte:

Bios Version

EVerything below and to the right of this is white basically. So can anyone help me out with isntructions on getting my laptop to output to display in the BIOS.

I have no experience with using BIOS but I was somehow able to switch the boot order to boot from disc. Am now trying to use EasyRe disc but the lack of a working display is making things difficult.

Re: Y430 Out to External Display in BIOS

hi sliderslider,

Attaching an HDMI or VGA cable mostly clone the display. If this doesn't work, try to:

1. Press Fn+F3 to choose the display scheme

2. Using this screenshot of the Y430's BIOS, go to the Advanced Tab and modify the Power On Display and chage it to the external display.

Hope this helps.
