Welcome to the forum!
Open the Device manager (Control Panel --> System --> Device Manager), then click on "Show hidden devices" --> Non Plug and Play drivers, disable the device named "Beep" and reboot your computer.

Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately, I disabled it, and it didn't change anything.
I double-clicked on "Beep" to bring up the "Beep Properties" window.
I then clicked on the "driver" tab. There was a section named "current status" which had a "start" and "stop" button. I clicked "stop."
Then in the "startup" section, I selected "disabled"
I rebooted my computer and verified it kept those settings, but when I plug in or unplug the AC adapter, the deafening beep still happens.

Ok, I figured out a way to stop it. I went to speaker properties and turned the PC speaker off.
I'd rather be able to isolate the power beep than mute all PC sounds, but I guess that's the only fix for now.

You may be able to turn it off in BIOS. Unfortunately as I don't have an ideaPad notebook I can't tell you where. On thinkPads it is found in the BIOS > Config > Alarm menu, Power Control Beep.
Hopefully this helps

Here is the answer I just got from a very nice man at tech support for my daughter's G series computer. Hope it works for you!
Go to Control Panel
Select Sound Icon
Select Playback Tab
a new window will pop up
Select the Levels Tab
Find PC Beep and check Mute
This should mute the loud hornlike beep it makes when you disconnect or reconnect the a/c adapter without muting your entire system.
