My Y470 has a very dim screen/display that is on its brightest setting, but still looks half as bright as my HP that I am still using until I resolve this issue. It arrived this way out of the box. Updating drivers and changing settings did not help. Whites still look very dingy!
The Intel display driver was updated, which caused the brightness level indicator to stick like many others have had problems with. I rolled that driver back, so the brightness adjustment level moves again, but the screen brightness setting is maxed out according to the level indicator.
All power options have been changed to 100% brightness under all settings/plans, with "Dim the display" set to "Never".
Can anyone help or suggest something else to get the screen brighter?

Thank you for your suggestions. I returned the 1st laptop, and now working on a 2nd. It came out of the box with the same problems, so there was no defect on the 1st as first thought. I made all the same setting changes for max brightness without any improvement before making any updates, or installs, so I did as you instructed:
1. Uninstalled NVIDIA graphics driver version 188.8.131.5244
2. Uninstalled NVIDIA graphics Driver version 268.44
3. Uninstalled Lenovo Power Management software
4. Installed Intel graphics driver
5. Made sure all settings were at 100% max brightness with dim screen settings to never, etc. under the power management plan
After making these changes, I have not noticed any increase in brightness. I went through all the resolution/brightness and color management screens to make any necessary changes, but have been unable to match the "Good gamma" example. I am adjusting the color settings, which seams to help a little, but have it too blue and need to readjust.
Unfortunately, I am still not happy with the brightness settings. I do not have a lot of free time, but will try adjusting color balance again to get a true white that is not dingy.
I contacted Lenovo support, but they were unwilling to send a technician out for this issue under my on-site warranty service.
The only pros I have at this point are the keyboard and trackpad. I do not care for the single bar button though. The laptop is larger, thicker, and heavier than my current 14" HP. I would like to make the Y470 work for me, but if you are unable to make any additional suggestions, and I am unable to increase the brightness, this will be my 2nd Y470 return.
