I have recently been having issues with my battery on my IdeaPad Y480. Charging is stuck at around 58% battery and I get a message that tells me that the laptop is plugged in and not charging. It is a Windows 8 version of the computer, and I tried doing a battery gauge reset in the Energy Management tool, but this only temporarily solved the problem.
This symptom could be the result of a battery life optimization setting in energy management . The Maximum battery life setting configures the battery to extend lifespan while trading off system run time / capacity.
Under Energy Management make sure you select Optimized Battery health as this will let you charge up to 100% and will provide maximum run time per charge (in conjunction with power saver power plan settings)
Maximum battery life will limit the charging up to 59% to prolong battery lifespan.
