Anyone had any luck putting in a LCD with higher resolution in a Y480? I've bought a 1600x900 screen that fits perfectly, but the image is distorted when connected via the native LVDS cable. I'm assuming there's a single channel LVDS in the Y480, and I should get a dual channel LVDS to support the higher resolution. Unfortunately, I can't find any LVDS cables for the Y480 (or Y580). Also, I'm not sure that the motherboard in the Y480 can even support a dual channel LVDS. Any thoughts? Is any of this possible? Thanks

Yeah, every other line being active seems about right, but I'm not certain. Definitely, has a weird yellow hue and general blurriness.

I'm still trying to get my hands on a dual channel LVDS cable and hope that does the trick. They're supposed to be adding the dual channel LVDS for the Y580 (FRU 90200854) on
lenovospareparts.com within the next few days. Evidently, you can't buy parts directly from lenovo support anymore, but they claimed they'd get it up on the website. I've posted at http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/712146-y480-screen-upgrade.html too, but with no luck. Maybe between the two of us, we can get this thing figured out. Thanks for replying, and keep me uptodate. I'll do the same.

Awesome, let me know. Yeah, the part still isn't on the site. They said it'd take 3-5 days - today is day 5. I'll probably call again today - bugging them again can't hurt. If you have the time, give them a call too 877-453-6686 - the more people to call, the better. The FRU is 90200854. Your experiment today could put this ideas to bed though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
