Bought the Y50-70 (59424712) laptop in 2014 with the GTX 860M graphics card. I've been using a 60hz HP monitor the whole time. I want to upgrade to a 144hz monitor (probably Acer GN246HL) when this year's black friday comes.
I have read contradicting dicussions on whether this laptop/graphics card can handle running a 144hz monitor.
Could I receive some help?

I want to clear some misunderstanding first. Since Y50-70 is using 'Optimus' the one and only controller of the graphic and moniter is Intel 4600. While GTX 860M only act as addition renderer (or you could say it only has render unit).
From what I've search, Intel 4600 is NOT capable of refresh rate higher than 60Hz. You can search for highest support resolution of Y50-70 here :https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025675/graphics-drivers.html (Y50-70 is using 4th generation intel processor).
