Re: Y50 70 BIOS Can't Save Settings Or Exit

2017-12-23, 9:53 AM

The bios gets corrupted even if I do not install ubuntu, just start the ubuntu distro live from usb.
Now I can't boot from usb or save changes in bios preferences. I have windows installed and I can't change o.s. or update windows to version 1709 (error at boot).

I have a Lenovo Y50 with bios ver. 3.03

Sorry for my bad english.

Re: Y50 70 BIOS Can't Save Settings Or Exit

First sorry for my English, I'm Spanish

Same problem of bios in my LENOVO Y50-70, finally I have been able to solve the problem with the kernel 4.14.19 thanks to pkg32

My steps were the following:

- need 2 formatted 16gb usb memories

- On another computer record in USB memory with rufus an image of ubuntu 16.04 LTS

- Physically disassemble the Lenovo internal disk drive Y50-70

- Start the computer with the ubuntu usb memory and the other formatted memory, there were two options to try or install, I chose installation

- As there is no hard drive in the PC, you have to install ububtu in the usb memory that we have formatted.

- After much, much, much time, ubuntu is installed on pendrive, the system now is very very slow

- Now I can install UKUU, in other attempts ubuntu in tried mode is not possible.

- I open a terminal and install ukuu

sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:teejee2008/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo aptget install ukuu

- Open Ukuu and select the kernel 4.14.19 install wait a long time and close

- turn off and start with the mays key pressed to enter the grub menu

- select the option of Ubuntu with linux 4.14.9 - generic

- When it finishes booting, I turn it off - I check the bios, it works, I can modify it

a greeting
