Ok first of all i do not want to judge any of you, i just had to make the header catchy enough.
I have bought Lenovo Y50-70 2 days ago. With legal, genuine OEM Windows 8.1
However i experience problem -- cannot upDATE my windwos (NOT to win10, but to newer version of 8.1) at all!!
Upon further investigation, i've found that my BIOS key is NOT the same as the pre-installed windows 8.1 key.
They are both legit and genuine however the BIOS key is for WINDOWS 10! It cannot be used on 8.1.
And i have supposingly bought 8.1 and i want to use 8.1.
Now it seems whoever first made the laptop (Lenovo??) like so, screwed this part a bit.
He/She embeded the win 10 key into the bios, but put pre-installed 8.1 with another key... and its a bit of a chaos, aye?
I asked microsoft and the tec supported said she never saw something done like so (we had a look into my laptop's keys via program that digs them).
Now i do not want to judge or anything, don't worry.
I have call with tier 2 technician from Microsoft schechuled for tomorrow.
I just want to ask here: IS IT POSSIBLE to edit (change) the BIOS-KEY from the laptop? That way i wont have to go the windows 10 route!! I want to stay with 8.1!!
If not -- is there someone who can help/support me?
