Y50 wifi not working

Hello. I recently got this issue with my Y50-70 that my WiFi would not appear in the taskbar. It also is not visible under the list of adapters  in Network Connections. The Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 is visible in the device manager under network adapters. I can also sucessfully install the Intel proset drivers for the card but the WiFi itself does not work. Also wireless is enabled in BIOS. I doubt it is a hardware problem as the wireless card does appear in the device manager. Can anyone help ,me fix this?

Re: Y50 wifi not working

Hi Hjgdjhfxjhv,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Frist try launching the Networ troubleshooter,

  Open control Panel

  Open Network and Internet

  Open Network and Sharing Center

Now on this page you will see an option to launch Troubleshoot Problems option.

Let me know your findings

Cheers!

Re: Y50 wifi not working

I launched the troubleshooter and was faced with 5 options for network and 1 for printer. The options were Internet connections, shared folders, HomeGroup, Network adapter and incoming connections. The only one I felt was relevent the problem was network adapter. Upon clicking on that I was faced with four options: Ethernet(1-3) and All network adapters. As the wireless adapter was not listed I opted for All network adapters and the troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem. Afterwords I tried the other listed options in the troubleshooter but to no avail.

Re: Y50 wifi not working

Hi Hjgdjhfxjhv,

This Maintenance Manual should guide on how to get into the WLAN card.

If you're comfortable with computer teardown, you can try Unplugging and replugging the WLAN card from the Motherboard.

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Re: Y50 wifi not working

The problem is fixed. It wasn't a hardware issue. Reinstalling windows recitifed the issue.

Re: Y50 wifi not working

Have also lost my WIFI connection recently for first time and so having to use Ethernet cable. I was in the process of looking for advice when fortuetously the scheduled Lenovo scan of my hardware finished and came up with the Error Message:

wwF00F001-DL7x1F on 12 March 2016 at 09.51

and identified my QualcommAtheros AR956x Wireless Network Adaptor as being at fault or having failed.

Oddly I had taken my laptop to my daughters home specifically to try it on their WIFI and it worked - no ethernet in use.

I've now come back to my own home and am still apparently using the "faulty" Atheros Adaptor as my WIFI is somehow

working without the ethernet cable allowing me to use this forum as proof - so I'm wondering wether this is an intermittent problem. As I said this is my first experience of losing WIFI.

My ISP Provider is BT (British Telecom) and my hub is BT Infinity BT Home Hub 3.

Does that help or alternatively does that enable you to offer me any advice. Thanks,
