Y500 - Novo Button menu starts laptop

Hi guys,

 

I`m having a problem with my laptop Ideapad Y500.

It starts couple of days ago. At the evening I turned it off and went to bed. When I woke up the laptop was running and the Novo Button menu was on the screen. I used normal starup and just turn it off again and went to work. But again, when I came home the Novo Button menu was on the screen again. Right now I need to remove the battery and unpluged the power cable so the laptop don`t turn on.

I scaned the laptop using Malwarebytes, but it came empty.

I want to restore the factory settings, but don`t want to it before I ask you for help.

So can anyone help me?

 

Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

 

Sounds like something is getting your unit started up without any input, unless it is a ghost Smiley Surprised


Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

It looks like I solved the problem.
I did basically what you suggested, but insted of quick discharge (buy pressing the power button) a let it discharge over couple of hours, when left for work.
