Y500 Problem with Gaming! Help!

Hey,

So I just received my IdeaPad Y500 Notebook today. Tried running Guild Wars 2 which was a complete fail. At highest settings I'm getting no more than 10 FPS and at the very lowest settings I am getting around 20 FPS... 0_o . Why is this?! Please, someone help me out and tell me what I need to do.

Many thanks,

Mike

Re: Y500 Problem with Gaming! Help!

I just got my Y500 the other day and so far I've only managed to get StarCraft II installed and it runs ultra settings super smooth. I'll install guild wars 2 tonight and test it out. I'll report back with my findings.

I just ordered this model as well and will mainly be playing starcraft 2.  When you say that it runs smooth on ultra are you running it on 720p or 1080?

I'm running it on the lower resolution screen the y500 ships with. 1366 by 768 or something like that. I'm not near it to check right now.

No worries ya the base config is 1366x768.  Was just curious how it runs on the 1080 but I can always crank down the resolution.  Did you try any big multiplayer games or only single player campaign?

Just singleplayer campaign but I'd imagine it will do perfectly fine in some heavy duty multiplayer matches.

Re: Y500 Problem with Gaming! Help!

Kool thanks for the info.  Well I can't speak for this model because I havn't received mine yet but I will update once I do.  My current laptop does the same thing if you bang the table so I think that's fairly normal to a point.  Do you find the overall build quality seems fairly sturdy aside from that?

Aside from that the build quality is great. The metal is cool to the touch and feels thick. It has a heftyness/sturdyness to it. I will warn you its a fingerprint magnet Smiley Tongue.

Sounds good I heard from others the build was decent and the cooling was much better on this model than the y580.   well my current lid is glossy and attracts fingerprints like crazy so i'm used to it.  Not much of an issue as I only take it out occasionally anyway.
